What To Look For In A Web Host

When deciding which web hosting provider to go with, there are a few important factors to to look for.

There are a lot of different price points for web hosting. You’ll find that Bluehost is actually one of the cheapest options.

At this point you might think we’re car shopping or something, rest assured we’re still talking web hosting. Performance of the web host is important because if poor performance means slower websites which ultimately results in less traffic.

It’s important to compare the features of various web hosts to ensure that you aren’t missing out on anything you might want.  There may be specific things to that you like, for example the features I look for are a free domain name email included, an intuitive site builder, great customer support, SSL certificates and CDN for your website (I’ll explain these later).

What’s Included With Bluehost?

Some of the key features of Bluehost include a free domain name (approx. $17 value), free SSL certification, WordPress integration (which means ClickFunnels integration) and excellent customer service that I can vouch for.

Bluehost Review 2020

When choosing a plan with Bluehost, there are a variety of options.  It all depends on your web hosting needs.

Let’s take a look at the pricing for each: Bluehost Shared Hosting, Bluehost VPS Hosting and Bluehost Dedicated Hosting…

How Much Does Bluehost Cost?

As mentioned before, Bluehost is one of the cheapest web hosting solutions.  Starting at just $2.95/month, you can get a basic plan for shared hosting.  As we explore different types of hosting offered with Bluehost, you’ll find that they all have different price ranges.  For most people who are just starting a website, shared hosting will be all that you need.

Bluehost Shared Hosting Pricing

If you are just getting started with a website, you won’t need to worry about getting extremely heavy loads of traffic to your website and therefore a shared hosting plan should suffice.

Bluehost Shared Hosting Pricing

For just $2.95/month, you can get a website with an SSL certificate.  This alone is one of the most competitive offers in web hosting.  I recommend starting your first website with this plan.

The Basic plan will be enough for most, however if you want to have multiple websites with Bluehost then the Plus plan at $5.45/month is a great option.  The Choice Plus plan is great for anyone who wants the Plus plan but want the added security of domain privacy protection.  Also note that their current promotion is offering the Choice Plus plan at the same price as Plus.

The Pro plan has the added benefit of a dedicated IP, which will improve overall performance and security of your website.  As you gain more traffic to your website, you may want to consider upgrading to this plan.

Bluehost VPS Hosting

With Bluehost Virtual Private Server Hosting, the robustness of your website will be greater than that of shared hosting but lesser than dedicated hosting.  When deciding between shared hosting or VPS hosting,  consider the traffic and security requirements of your  website.  Are you worried that you get too much traffic for shared hosting or your site may require additional security precautions?  If so, Bluehost VPS Hosting may be your best bet.

Bluehost VPS Hosting

The Standard plan at $18.99/month will offer you 2 cores, 30 GB SSD storage, 2 GB RAM, 1 TB bandwidth and 1 IP Address.  2 cores refers to the processing power of the virtual private server your website resides on, the more cores the stronger the processing.  Solid State Drive (SSD) storage is a faster alternative of storage compared to hard drive storage.  Think of the virtual private server as a computer within a computer.  It has all the performance specifications of a computer which will determine how well your site operates.

Similar to the Standard plan, the Enhanced plan will offer 2 cores but twice the amount of SSD storage, RAM, bandwidth and IP addresses.  Get all of this additional power for just $29.99/month.

The Ultimate plan costs $59.99/month and has a powerful 4 processing cores, 120 GB SSD storage, a whopping 8 GB RAM, 3 TB bandwidth and 2 IP addresses.  Needless to say, your website will be very robust with this plan.

Bluehost Dedicated Hosting

This form of hosting is the most powerful and runs your website on a physical, dedicated server as opposed to a virtual private server within a shared hosting environment.

Bluehost Dedicated Host

Starting at $79.99/month, the Standard plan offers powerhouse specifications for your websites server.  4 cores @ 2.3 GHz, 500 GB mirrored storage, 4 GB RAM, 5 TB bandwidth and 3 IP addresses will result in a strong, well fortified website.

As expected, the Enhanced plan  offers even greater performance specifications and will cost you $99.99/month.

The Premium plan is the most expensive, highest performing web hosting coming in at just 1 cent shy of $120/month.  When you’ve reached the point where your website requires this plan, I personally congratulate you because your hard work has paid off.

Bluehost Review Summary

After going through each type of hosting, each plan for each type of hosting and the variety of features offered, I can honestly say that Bluehost should adhere to any persons web hosting necessities with such a vast range of options.  If you’d still like to consider other options however, check out my comparison of Bluehost vs SiteGround, which is the other web host that I personally recommend.
